EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2005
The 50th Eurovision Song Contest took place from Kiev in the Ukraine. The U.K were second to perform and Javine performed ‘Touch My Fire’. Being on early didn’t help our chances though, we came 22nd out of 24 with just a total of 18 points. We do have an excuse though because Javine had a bug that caused stabbing pains in her throat just days before the event. She was ordered by her doctors to not even talk before the contest. To be fair to the UK, we did have one of the best songs on the night but many would argue that political voting lost us points again on the night. Greece came out on top this year with 230 points with a song called ‘My Number One’ an up-tempo track which ironically was not dissimilar to the UK’s entry. Next year’s event will take place from Athens. Get all the goss from this years event HERE.

SINGLES SELLS CONTINUE TO BE A WORRY
The Singles market came under fire in the press again this week after last weeks No’1. Even though we are nearly ¼ of the way through the year, Mcfly’s Number One charity record became the biggest selling single of 2005, out selling every other release this year in just one week. It is thought that it is due to lack of competition due to people buying music in more modern formats. This could change soon though with a new chart that will be introduced on 17th April when single sales and download sales we be added to the same chart for the first time ever.

Following the departure of Charlie Simpson, Busted announced today (Friday 14th Jan 2005) that they have decided to split up.

Busted won Best Pop Act and Best Breakthrough Act at the 2004 BRIT awards and they were nominated for Best British Group. Most recently they topped the charts with the theme to the Thunderbirds movie, which was voted Record Of The Year.
In the course of their career Busted have sold out 50 UK arenas including 11 Wembleys and last year they sold more Wembleys than any other artist (equaling the all time record), consolidating their position as the biggest and best pop act in the UK.
Says Matt Willis: "It's a really sad day for all of us but we've always said that if one member left then we'd call it a day. The last three years have been unbelievable and I'd like to say a massive thank you to all our fans- you've been amazing."
Says Charlie Simpson: "I'm incredibly proud of everything that we've achieved in Busted. We've enjoyed some of the best times in our lives together. I wouldn't change one single bit of it. This has been a really difficult decision and I hope the fans will understand"
Says James Bourne: "I'm devastated that Charlie has chosen to quit Busted, but I have to respect his decision and I fully support him and wish him all the best for the future. I would like to say a personal thank you to all the fans who have made the last three years the best years of my life. I'll remember these years forever."
