GLASTONBURY 2007
The Glastonbury Festival has been taking place this weekend and music fans have been trying to cope with heavy showers and fields rapidly turning to mud baths. Parts of the site have been turned into a quagmire by heavy rain. The conditions have not deterred most of the 177,500 festival-goers but several have decided to leave the site for home after some tents were waterlogged after showers. Police said crime was on a par with 2005's festival, with 163 offences recorded by Saturday morning. In addition, a 26-year-old man has died in Yeovil District Hospital after a suspected drugs overdose at the site. The man, believed to be from the West Midlands, was found unconscious by festival staff in the Park Farm area of the site early on Saturday. Festival organisers are concerned that the site will be chaos as the revellers head home after the close of the festival later this evening. They are predicting cars will struggle to get off the waterlogged fields. Fans have been treated to three days of exceptional performances. Full reviews and video footage can been seen HERE.

EUROVISION 2007
On Saturday night The Eurovision Song Contest took place in Helsinki. The event was estimated to have pulled in a world-wide audience of 100 million. The favourite to win was the Ukraine, who were being represented by drag queen Verka. The Ukraine in actual fact came in second place as Serbia were this year’s winners. Molitva was voted the best song with 268 points and was performed for Serbia by Marija Serifovic. It was the first time that Sebia took place in the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent state. And what of the UK? Well it is fair to say we fell foul of political voting once again. We came in second from last place, only Ireland scored less points. We came in joint second from last place with France after scoring just 19 points after Scooch performed ‘Flying The Flag (For You)’. It looked for a while that we would score “nul points” until Malta gave us their top marks of 12 points.
